Default 1980 Heater Core

I have the motor out of the car right now, and I know that I have to replace the heater core. Is it possible to remove in from inside on the firewall by taking the heater box cover off rather than work at it from inside the interior. Lots of room under the hood right now thought I would make use of it.

Heater core comes out from the inside (sorry). BUT!! It's also a good time to do it when the motor is out- there's a nut that is really tough to get to with the engine in place.

And if you pull both sides, you have the added benefits of being able to clean all the trash out of the box and repainting as needed. And there WILL be some trash in there.

Here's a procedure for a 70'. Dash is all different, but the core box comes apart the same way.
