I am planning on repainting my 77 coupe, but don't know what to paint it. It is currently L10 white with bright red interior. I was not planning on changing the inter. color, just the body color. If you have any sugestions please let me know. Thanks a-bunch.
Hey, what ever spins your wheels or if you're married ask her????
silver, blk, red,,???????? Mine is red on red Interior 24 exterior 72 also have a silver exterior red interior other corvette both 77's.
House of Kolor, Brandywine Kandy shot over a Orion Silver metallic base. The Oriental Blue and Tangerine Kandys also look great over the Silver Orion base. If the body work and prep work is done right and the paint mixed and applied correctly the paint job will be outstanding. On a sunny day the paint job will look like liquid glass if done right, houstonvett
My car was originally Classic White with Red leather. When repainting I considered white, black, silver, red or pearl white. I ended up deciding on Candy Apple Red. I would have to say that although I was not 100% confident about going to the red, I was extremely happy with the way it turned out.

That is 1 fine looking paintjob there Brandywine. Now you have me thinking about using that color. I am wondering how the Brandywine, Orion Silver would look with a Doeskin colored interior, houstonvett
Agree with above about changing the color. However if you do, black, silver or blue would look good. I am partial to black, but a PITA to keep clean!
I say this in every post about paint color opinions - I would love to see how some of the new car dark silver/pewters or how some of new the blues would look like on a C3:
1. Infiniti "Pewter" like on the FX35 and G37
2. Lexus makes a deep metallic blue for the IS250/350 that looks black from some angles. Awesome color.
3. Corvette "Cyber Grey" or "Jetstream Blue"
4. Audi/Lamborghini/Pontiac/Chevy HHR non-metallic dark grey (kind of battleship grey)
5. Honda Accord coupe metallic blue (similar to GM's, but a little deeper)
Yes - I often think about colors for me when I get around to re-painting in the future!

Red interior? White, black or bright silver exterior color. [Dark silver/pewter/charcoal colors are better with a dark red interior.] Kandy Kolors are nice...but tough to touch-up when you get nicks. Mille Miglia Red or Rally Red are very nice.
Some of the color choice may be dictated by cost and other factors, like if you are going to do it yourself. First off, white can be a nice, classic color. It was the most popular Corvette color in that era. I think it still looks great if detailed out right. If plan to have someone paint it for you, changing the color ...and doing it RIGHT costs more than just respraying. Doing it right means really sanding it down thoroughly so it doesn't flake off in the door jambs in the future. A lot of shops really cut corners in the jambs cause it takes a lot more work to do the job right. Also, another consideration is if you don't strip the car and go with a darker color over white, it looks wierd when you get rock chips and other chips and you can see the white beneath the chips. So, you have to weight all that.
If you plan to paint it yourself and you don't have a lot paint experience, then light metallic colors like silver and gold are really difficult to paint and make look good for a beginner. Darker metalics are easier. Solid colors like black, blue, red are easy ...white is arguably the easiest color to spray and make look good. If you are going to completely strip the car then you have a lot of color options.
So, there you have it. A few things to factor into your decision matrix. Personally, having looked at a lot of C3's at car shows the best looking rubber bumper cars in my mind are Red, Black, White. But then ya come upon some really tricked out custom color cars that can look great too. For me, I stripped my car completely and struggled with color choice as well. My car's interior is black so I could go with any color. Red looks great but it's kind of cliche', Black didn't trip my trigger ...and I've already got a black vehicle, my wife wanted yellow. I ended up with silver because it was the original color and I think it looks ok. I wouldn't say it is the greatest, but I like it enough. I know where you're at ... It's a tough call. Good luck.
I love the white exterior with red interior but next to white I think black with red is second best choice. Ya know they haven't made cars with red interiors for about 15 years they say it can make you mad when you drive.
Although having a red interior may somewhat limit your range of color choices.....There are still so many variations and shades and contrasting paint schemes to consider....
I don't envy your position I have changed my color choices a hundred times already and I haven't even started my restoration. (But I will soon)
Good luck with the car, and I'm sure that whatever you choose it'll look good.
