i really think your being too picky. but seriously i never painted a car in my life and think i could have done better. that really sucks. you paid top dollar for a beginners work. get yourself a good lawyer and thanks for the warning. good luck, nutsy.
Hi Joe, I looked at the pics with an unbiased opinion... The little spots may be compound left in the cracks where they buffed..Try to clean them out with a toothbrush..if no paint under it, then no paint... As for the finish under the fenders , ample money spent to do those repairs, plus they dont have to be perfect, just attended to... As for the price and you're putting it back together..Geeeezze!!! Im going back to painting corvettes, it seems a license to steal sometimes... My old 61' took 25G to get it in primer after i sold it..So your not alone!!!!!! Good luck!! the paint is nice though...But i feel the rush was on... Just my .02.. Not worth nuthin though!!!
I know the computer lies like crazy over exact colors, but from the looks, I would LOVE to grab that paint and stick it on MY car now....but not for THAT kind of money....
I"m painting my own car...so the budget is considerable less, but maybe that green I choose can look as good....
Brilliant emerald green with NO yellow and maybe a hint of blue just to convince the crowd....
same as a olde tyme car I had back when Chariots raced in Rome....
For the amount of money you quoted, I too would have expected a better job.
Detailing a body COMPLETLY for paint takes a tremendous amount of time. How specific and detailed was your estimate?
Did you have a sense things weren't going well while the work was going on?
It looks like the shop said "Well, we've used up the $$ in our estimate so lets call it ready to paint and then rush it out the door".
Regards,
Alan
Call the lawyer. It's clear they delivered sub-par quality. I can't believe anyone in this thread would disagree, giving the dollar figure and your photo evidence-- how can experienced car buffs like us ignore what is obvious? Too picky? No Way!! One particular photo of that body gap, wider narrower wider again, and the pitting in the other picture... made me for you brother. Good luck, and for now at least the color is baddd, and your vette is still much nicer than most out there!
Where the paint was pitted it is an indication that they didn't get the surface cleaned of oils and/or wax. Those are "fisheyes". The paint did not adhere in the center of the "eye".

You are absolutely right to be peaved. This is unacceptable! Please force the issue with the shop. Lawyer up if you have to, the proof is in the pics.
Good luck and keep us posted!
They should be ashamed of them selves, letting a car leave there shop looking like that. I don't blame you for being angry, you spent an awful lot of money, for lousy craftsmanship. I hope you get compensated for your trouble. Keep us up to date.
We will be interested to hear how this comes out. While the workmanship is a bit shoddy, I think the real issue here is the mind-bogglingly obscene price you paid. Don't confuse me with one of those people who doesn't want to pay for a professional paint job- I understand having to pay a premium for Corvette paint (I'm in the middle of such a project right now) but I'd love to know what went on when you agreed to this deal. Did this painter actually say to you, "It will be $17k to paint your 1977 coupe??? Oh, and you have to put it back together."
"And take the rest of the tape off."
Was there a contract? Were there discussions about patrticulars? Were you involved in the process? Did he quote you $6k and hand you a bill for $17k?
