The sky is falling the sky is falling

seriously, no one in the government, or GM has said anything about this, so we can either spread rumors, or just wait for people to talk. Look i doubt that there is some Al Gore conspiracy against the corvette, they are too busy dealing with SUVs

there has been no news about the ZR1 being stopped by the government. So unless you believe everything you hear in interoffice emails..... just relax

the vette is chevy's halo model, they will probably not develop a C7 for some time, but it will live on.

I HOPE you are correct, but honestly, coming from WASH DC area for 53 years left that area 12 years ago....there is NO way in hell they will let the vette survive....

when the government has the ability to kill a private manufactures specific model, we will all be wearing berets, and have big red flags with one star...

I believe everything I read on the internet, and every email that is forwarded to me...

This article from a couple days ago quotes the KY area UAW Pres saying employees are waiting to find out which plants will actually close.

I saw a ZR-1 on the chassis dyno at Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, Maryland this past Sunday.
530 RWHP and 550 FPT, flat line between 3500 and 6500 RPM.
335x25x20 tires are pretty wide.
It would be a real shame to lose it.
Regards,
Alan

AOL has an article today - Pontiac is dead... is the Corvette next? They speculate that the Corvette could be going now that GM has taken the goverment money. Actually, the article says that even if the auto zar allows GM to keep the Corvette, the Washington democomies tighter fuel mileage and green regulations, probably will kill it.

V8's and anything else that's anti-social, won't be tolerated by Obama Motors! Uncle Adolf (er I mean Uncle Barack) wants us all driving little, green, folkswagons.

It may not be a couple of rich guys, but some entity will step up and rescue Corvette from the GM fiasco.Under the inept gov't and union control this brand would disappear, but someone out there somewhere will not let it die.The big three will be strangled by the mindless bureaucracy of Big Brother and will be mandated to build boring, practical, efficient transportation appliances for the lowest common denominator for the lowest possible financial and environmental burden to the lowest average wage earning slave.Hey that worked great in Europe, didn't it!(Trabant,British Leyland,Skoda,Lada,Renault-you get the idea)
Our only hope is that niche manufacturers will be allowed to market vehicles for the enthusiast, hopefully they will be given the opportunity to flourish as they once did in the early days of the auto industry.

....what's kind of ironic here is that the C6 probably gets better MPG than 40% of the vehicles now on the road, including SUVs.

After Corvette, what's the best Chevrolet has to offer? The pickup?...Maybe Chevrolet follows Oldsmobile and Pontiac.

Sounds like 1971 again. No more high performance. Oh, wait... we have had some performance since then. Just took some adjustments. They will not kill the flagship car. Have faith, my brothers!!

yeah, I was thinking exactly what Paul said, there's some 4 cylinders that don't get as good of gas mileage as the C6 can.
