I was hit at Starbucks , Hagerty never asked why I was there or anything . You do have to have a garage , and another car , but I just think they are the best .
Hagerty, Grundy, all the other classic car insurance houses.. this forum will almost always have an open thread regardng this subject... It really seems like this type of insuance is the way to go unless you are really young or you use your vette as a daily driver...
I have never read a negative post regarding this type of insurance.. does anybody have a horror story to tell regarding this type of classic car insurance?
also regarding umbrella coverage.... my main insurance with my DD and house is thru allstate where I have a umbrella rider.... I asked Hagerty to insure me to the max and they did go to their max, but their max is less than my max at allstate... I need to research this as I may not be covered by my umbrella while driving my vette...
insurance is like that great big cloud in the sky... hard to know and understand fully what you have bought... sort of like medical benefits and title insurance.... don't get me going on these!
Umbrella coverage! Just went through this with my regular insurer, Erie Insurance, on a $1,000,000 liability policy. First, I had to get Hagerty to up my libility to $250,00 - $300,000, same as my DD policy. No problem, just a few more bucks. Erie still said NO as Hagerty was not AM Best rated. Told them Hagerty was an Agent, not an insurance Co. Took the Hagerty policy to my local Erie Insurance agent, showed them that the actual insurance Co. is Essentia Insurance, AM Best AAA rated. Told the agent to fax a copy of the Hagerty policy to the home office, and if they still refuse to include it under the umbrella policy, to send me a letter as to why.
Erie called me yesterday, all is well. Corvette is now insured under the $1,000,000 umbrella.
Insurance double talk is as bad as government double talk!
I dont know the answer to that but its considered glass coverage, usually glass is covered regardless
When I filed a claim at Hagerty for a broken passenger window they asked me how it broke - I told them the truth that it broke on its own overnight in the garage. Claim process was quick and painless.
I had a stone hit the windshield of a '61 I had. They paid the replacement even when the glass installer asked for extra labor. It did take a little explaining to get the extra labor because the install on a C1 windshield is a roaring PITA. I thought they were quite reasonable.
Based on what I have heard in the past and the feedback on this forum I have concluded that Hagerdy is real easy to work with when you have a loss and with that kind of service it requires a little more preium to provide it. Ed
I have my agreed at 20K and pay about $350/yr...so by math your $700 sounds right. Are you really upset about $700/yr for a 40K no BS policy? Doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.
Not really,Ive talked to a few people in the past that have basically the same coverage I have and are paying half of my premium put in all honestly Ive not got anything to complain about with Hagerty. When I started this policy I threw every question I could think of and pretty much got the same responce,no problem.American Automobile Insurance Company on the other hand, total opposite. When the question of insurance comes up Ive never heard a single negative thing about Hagerty.
There's something else I noticed in the Hagerty policy while thumbing through it the other night. If you have one of those super high watt stereos and speakers and enter your car in a thumping contest - or one of those bouncing car contests - your insurance will not cover damages from these events. Logic would say they're afraid you'll shatter or rattle something which will then need replacement.
I have J.C Taylor and an agreed value 0f $60,000 on my 72 LT1 coupe. 300/500 liability limits before the Umbrella kicks in. I pay $325.00 in Mass. No claims and I've never had any issues.
