i just got car insurance from hagerty, on my 82 vette today. i will pay all most half what i was paying plus if i break down they wll pay the tow bill .
I just paid Hagerty $345 for my 71 LT-1 with the delux towing etc. and it seems high but I hear good things about Hagerty. I have a stated $35,000 policy. Never had a claim and had Hagerty for years and only 5 years ago it was only a little over $200. What are you guys doing and paying? Ed
On my 79 (just insured it today) I have it insured for $12,000 as a stock (I first selected custom because of the crate engine but the underwriter changed it to stock because it was close enough...) with $0 deductible for $153 a year.
i am paying $271 with the deluxe towing $12,000 agreed value.before i would pay for full coverage from may 1 till october 30 then go on fire and theft .now i can drive all year round if there is no snow .the extra towing was only $30 dollars more a year .one tow bill on a flat bed would be at least $50.00.how about we all go in together next year at the same time and ask for a group rate .
In Massachsetts paying $450.00 for 68 Corvette $40,000 agreed value and 79 450 SLC $30,000 agreed value.
I was formerly paying $700 for the Benz alone with Commerce Insurance.
Haggerty includes towing, lower deductible and higher coverage and no haggling like regular insurance companies like to do.
Worked for a major insurance company for many years and when my Camaro was stolen they tried to screw me. That was the only claim I ever had in 30 years so don't know why they play games.
I like the agreed value with Haggerty and from what I have heard from others on this forum, there is no baloney when you have a claim, not that I expect to have one.
I vote Haggerty

Ed,
Did you mean "agreed value" or "stated" value.
I was told there is a difference between the two and agreed is preferable.
I thought stated is subject to depreciation and agreed is not.

I just insured my car with Hagerty yesterday. A 1 year policy with an agreed value of $10,000.00, 100/300 liability and 25/50 uninsured motorist, collision with a zero dollar deductible, and towing cost me $155.00 for the year. The people at Hagerty were very nice to deal with on the phone and had my insurance cards ready in 20 minutes after I faxed all of the paperwork back to them. As ***** Nelson says, "I'm on the road again", Thank You hagerty!
I've used Haggerty for all the years I've had my vette.Very knowledgable people and reasonable rates. They were very helpful when I wanted to increase my coverage .Didn't try to sell me more than I needed and made good suggestions.I like the group rate idea, mines due for renewal next month.

Fair pricing especially when insuring more than one vehicle, good service, processes claims quickly, pleasant to deal with on the phone, and their newsletter that comes in the snail mail is pretty interesting most times too.
Hmm - thought I was happy with paying $342 for 20k agreed value on my 82 Collectors Edition. Seems like I should be paying less after seeing all of your rates.
my quote from them was $750 for $25,000 agreed value on my 79 . I had it listed as custom though and im only 23 guessing its the age why my quote was so high.
Being as how we lovingly care for our cars and in most cases drive very carefully and rarely I think we ard getting ripped off. I notice more and more companies are getting into the collector car insurance business because I think it must be very lucrative. Hagerdy J hear is good insurance but I have never had a claim and likely never will. He seems to be doing very well and is involved in everything automotive seens like to me. I just renewed but next time I am going to shop around. Ed
But what are all of your restrictions? Mileage limit I assume, but can you drive your car where you want/when you want? What if you want to drive out to eat one day, or church on Sunday, or take it to work, etc. Are you covered?
Also, I was wondering if a personal liability umbrella that one might have would be valid if you're insuring a car with another company. 100/300 liability and 25/50 underinsured is not very much coverage... if you hit a Mercedes/Jaguar/etc. and put a passenger or two in the hospital you're going to be in trouble...

No mileage restrictions. But cannot drive it to/from work. Must be stored in a locked garage at night. The key is that they do not allow to work driving which keeps the car out of rush hour traffic. Also it is designed for collectors. Those that have collector cars and do not really drive them other than to shows.
If the car is a driver or a back up driver then this insurance is not for you.

In 2008 I upped the liability pretty high on two classic cars we own while having the same concerns, and also upped the underinsured. It was very inexpensive - I want to say $20 annually, I think - sorry I don't have my policy in front of me at the moment.
Yes, you can "drive" your car. Hagerty's Cliff Notes -
