Default Headlight help

My headlights on my 74 coupe only come up about a 1/4 inch when I turn them on. I have replaced all vacuum hoses, check valve, head light warning switches, and the 2 link spring on the pass. side. I get 19inches of vacuum to the vacuum tank, but only 5 inches to the actuators. could this be bad relays? If I hook manifold vacuum to the actuators the headight go up and down great, but I'm not sure which parts to replace! Thanks in advance.

How much vacuum do you get to the relay valve? Will they open with the manual over ride under the dash? Here is a link to a trouble shooting guide that may help.

Keep troubleshooting! My problem is a bad relay valve, it opens fine, but the rubber o-ring at the bottom has a hole in it and causes a big leak for the system which reduces it to nothing. Keep up the checks and you'll get it eventually.

For the lack of vaccum to relays: You replaced the hosing so there's no leak there, I'd check the reserve tank for a hole or the actuators themselves.

Well I finally think I have it figured out! I have a bad seal in the drivers side actuator and both of my relays are bad. Can the relays be rebuilt or do you just have to by new?

I'd just buy new relays and be done with it. I'd buy the GM ones, not the imported.
The actuator seals can be replaced, all the vendors sell them.

In your spare time just for fun, try to rebuild the old relays and if you're successful, you'll have a spare pair.

Thanks Glenn! Are the ones from Willcox GM like your talking about? I'll see if I can rebuild them for fun but I will go ahead and buy new! Kelly
