I think that they're a general radio for a fair amount of years. You can tell what will fit by how big the screen is and the two adjusting *****. I think the 8 track version might even fit but might need some trimming.
I was told my radio never had FM and the only thing that worked was the AM. Well it cut out about a year ago so I've been reduced to nothing. I think they do break often though.
These Delco radios go bad...lots of places will restore them for a fair price. You can go on Ebay and find a radio for a 74 vette, send it to get restored, and be all set. Go to google and type in corvette radio restoration.
Then look for wonderbarman dont send him anything to work on, but his site has a lot of good info.
'68 through '76 will fit and look almost the same. The 'convector' [final stage amp on an aluminum heat exchanger] changed some from year to year, so it needs to match the radio head (as a set). 68 & 69 were a bit odd and are harder to find. My recommendation is to find a good 'refurbished' unit so that you don't have to pay-up twice. I got mine at the following website and have been very satisfied with it.
I have a 74 coupe that is mostly original. I believe the radio is original. Both AM and FM bands work well. How do you tell if it is Stereo or just Mono? It is hard for me to tell since the car is so loud and the inside acoustics are so poor.

The stereo units have a little yellow witness light that illuminates when a stereo signal is received.
Stereo indicator light in the lower-right portion of bezel on the stereo model. Also, the 'convector' will have only one power transistor on a mono unit....two transistors on a stereo unit.
