The car was in decent shape when purchased but beauty is only skin deep. It needed full brakes, suspension, and drivetrain overhaul and also had frame rust issues. I had the body pulled to see exactly what I was dealing with and shall we say there was no turning back.
One thing leads to another and you gotta rationalize that while its apart nows the time to address any and all potential future issues. I did pick up a complete replacement roller chassis with full VBP brakes, suspension and 17in wheels and figured I might as well overhaul the motor, tranny, rear end, steering box.......ect.
I am glad I pulled the windshield as there was some rust in the lower windshield frame that will easily be addressed now without the need for additional bodywork.
I am putting together a photo album and was wondering how many of you guys work backwards like me
I know she is gonna be worth it in the end - can't wait to get it sideways in 2nd gear hard on the throttle

Keep the faith, it a long tunnel but light is at the end. When I bought mine it was in really good shape but at the time the car was 23 years old and I did not want to be sitting on the side of the road while on a road trip with others. Like you said one thing leads into another.
Here's what I started with

Now road trips
It will all be worth it in the end. One word of advise, don't save your receipts
Hey Ed,
Once i get back in the cuontry, you might be done restoring your vette, and then we can go cruising.
My brother might be able to come too, but he will have to work even harder than you...
I agree the after looks like the before! You have done really well for 6 months. It has taken me 3 years to get from:

Your car is coming along nicely - I do have help with mine.
I had the body pulled and a local shop is doing all the body stuff. I have the chassis/drivetrain and I have been working that end on my own.
I will be done with the chassis in a few weeks and will deliver it to the shop to remount the body. Paint will be last - hope to have it done in 60-90 days.

I figure its like marriage - I'm in it for the long haul and gonna proceed slowly
Keep us updated and I'll do likewise.
Thanks, Ed
Was just kidding Ed I've been at this for 7 1/2 years now I have no business racing anyone. Just plugging along, overcoming some problems & making sure I'll finish some day
