I'm beginning to get a hint of gas fumes in the cockpit when I'm in stop and go traffic. Also, maybe a very slight smell of gas fumes in the garage...but very, very slight.
No obvious leaks. I'm suspicious of the smog canister (EECS). I'll get underneath the car and check the lines. I'm thinking those are fine as I had the fuel filter replaced last fall by some pretty reputable folks. But you never know.....
Does the canister ever go bad? I'll check connections and hoses, but wonder if it just goes bad. I'm thinking there is some sort of solenoid-operated valve that permits fumes to escape back into the engine.
I would lean towards a very slight fuel leak.A slight fuel leak will not be obvious and will never reach the garage floor. The fuel will run back the frame and evaporate leaving only the odor.Check under the passenger seat where the fuel lines do a 90 degree turn and then goes up over the rr wheel.

Thanks for the quick reply. Are you suggesting a slight fuel leak originating around the smog canister? I will check the complete line, best that I can.

No I would expect to find a leak in the fuel line.
You are very astute....crawled beneath the car. I saw where there is a very slight fuel leak right where the rubber hose attaches to what I guess is the fuel filter???
Leak stops when car is turned off...guess that makes sense as the fuel system is pressurized.
If I'm on the right track....probably just easiest to get that new part (fuel filter???) and the hose pigtails? Any special procedures to replace the filter...other than to have a bucket to catch the fuel that comes out?
