They tend to be close straight line performance but the LT-1 is the all round better sports car and I believe more desireable and should demand more money. I'd also prefer the 70 LT-1 over any non-solid lifter BB. Now if you are talking LS6 or L71, different story.
Exactly, could have not been said any better! Having said that, my buddy has a 69 bb 400Hp, Tri... we were rolling, and he took off. I out pulled him in first and second untill he shut it down He told me at the show, he was having problems with second. I didn't hear any problems, my window was down, and I was right beside him. Of course, my tune follows Lar's paper to the tee... Muddy

On that note: still looking for that L71, L89, Ls6...roadster

What rear gears are in your car and your buddy's car? If all you're doing is running in a straight line, gearing is a very important part of the conversation.

Do to mine being an AC LT-1...I have 355 with a wide ration. Not really sure about the buddies... but, I would guess, since it is an AC car to...good chance he is running the same gears. Personally, I think it's was due to the tuneMuddy

The lt-1 may pull ahead in first or second but at speeds over 50mph I doubt the lt-1 will still be pulling like a BB being both cars had the same rear gears of course

I have a 71 LT-1 and a friend has 71 454 M-20 4 speed and his car felt faster because of the unbelievable torque but it only lasted for a short time before shifting where the LT-1 just keeps pulling for a long time. They were about equal but the LT-1 had a slight edge in the 1/4 mile. We didn't have 1/8 miles back then but the 454 would probably won in the 1/8 mile. Both great cars with their own personalities. I still have the LT-1 but would like to also have a nice 454 too. Ed
