Car Cover
so I wanna see what you wonderful people recommend.
i need an outdoor cover for my '78 that can handle four seasons in New England (Connecticut specifically).
chances are the car will only be outside for the next couple of months, but I would still use it as a dust cover in winter, but who knows what lies ahead and I may need to protect from snow.
and it would be nice to have some sort of locking system on it.
what do YOU have for a cover or what do you recommend?
thanks in advance!

Covers that are made of breathable multi-layer fabrics (such as Wolf) are not waterproof, merely water resistant. They need to breathe to allow the moisture that gets between the cover and the car get out. I think it's safe to say (and my experience supports) once the Scotch-gardish treatment wears off that in a good rain your car will get wet regardless of the manufacturer or the sophistication of the fabric. Not to the same extent it would if you had no cover (ie I don't get any of the interior leaks that I have without a cover), but it'll still be wet under there.
I bought a cheaper Maxtech cover in 2005 that carried a one year warranty...it's thinning considerably now and is not even very repellant (I use it now as a cover for my Wolf cover, two covers at once...I'll toss it when I can see through it). I upgraded to a Wolf 4 layer (NOAH) in 2007. It was super effective for a few months until the surface treatment wore off, now it leaks like all the others. However, it keeps the crud off well and is holding up good; carries a 5 year warranty.
The clear coat suffers under these things...mine has a ton of little bubbles on the top surfaces of the car that I'm guessing are a direct result of the cover. I'll have to cut and buff the clear at some point to correct it. I hope to get a small canopy or one of the tent/garage things to give me better protection (no garage, fulltime driveway car).
This will be my next cover if it really works as advertised:

Good luck with your Wolf...it's a nice product. Hopefully you'll only be outside for a few months...
Enjoy, Steve

and the other reason for the cover was the incredibly dirty tree I park under at my house.
i used to have a garage, but I moved in to my girlfriends house and sacrifices had to be made....

That's what I have.
