69 hood question
i have a BB hood and one of the front hinge plates is broken out. my body guy says that this is common and that it needs a new hood support structure ($450) or a donor hood with good structure. here's my question..............is underhood support structure the same for a standard small block hood and a BB hood? if they are then i will look for a donor hood. if not, looks like i will be adding $450 to the body bill

Hi Alan. The $450 is for a brand new aftermarket under hood structure then some hours on top of that to bond it to the hood. The other option is to cut the understructure off of an old hood and graft in a repair. The hinge plate is broken out and in discussions with several body guys, this is common and very repairable. I've been thinking about just going with an aftermarket hood but the body guys really like working with the original GM hoods. I'll let you know what happens.
Anyway, the car went to the bodyshop last week and can't wait to start seeing some progress
