I ahve a 71 Vette which I.m sure was an LT1 because I found transistor amp behind left headlight. The engine is stamped CEOA218 with the numbers 62 stamp not in line with the others. They are closer to the cylinder head and at a slant. appears to be high horse because it has screw in rocker studs and push rod guide plates. Can anyone help me. I have not removed the oil pan
Hi WK,
I believe the CE stamping indicates a replacement engine. Usually an engine that was replaced under warranty, or one bought over the counter.
Regards,
Alan
There is a long list of clues to look for in a 'real' LT-1 car. Search for... David Mayhew... he posted a wonderful list of parts that made up a LT-1 car.
