Greetings ALL,
Just wondering if this is OK to use in my diff ????
PENRITE LIMSLIP ADDITIVE= $19.00 +$14
OR should I bite the bullet and pay $25+$14p&p
for GM stuff from Ebay .(Yes that's the 4oz bottle
AND from a dealer costs around $45).
How much oil Do I need for the diff ????? and will one bottle of additive be enough????
THANKS everyone
Gav

The 4 oz bottle of GM posi lube is only about $8.00 over the counter at a Chevy dealership. Fill the pumpkin until it begins to flow out of the inspection/fill hole. 80/90 gear weight oil is fine.
Use GL-5 for rear ends. Use GL-4 for manual transmissions. The GL-5 is bad for yellow metals... The advice about GM additive is good. Go to your local dealer.

Did you happen to notice his location? He's Aussie.
GM, I know it's a lot but it is worth it. It's the only additive I know for sure will prevent grinding/groaning of posi cones.

At a glance I was thinking Victoria BC.; but you're right. Heck, I can buy one and mail it over to him cheaper than some of the prices he's quoting. It will be the right stuff too
I´m also at the quest of changing the diff oil... but I went to 3 different oil shops to get the additive and they all look at me as i was speaking chinese...no posi lub additive...I will continue the search....
I think my search is over,I mentioned to my boss
(I'm working at a car mechanics as a driver) about the
additive and the price,a few minutes later he appeared with
a bottle of GM posi lube additive,so I'll be sweet talking him
into selling it to me, it's still gonna be around $20 but that's
half what the dealer wants for it.
Thanks everyone for your advice,
CHEERS

I just changed the diff lube in my '79 recently. I have a drain plug installed in the bottom so I could get it all out easily. I put in one 4 oz. bottle of GM additive p/n 1052358 and close to 2 quart bottles of 80W/90 gear lube.

If there are any GM dealers in Buenos Aires or anywhere in Argentina you need to try one of them.
As an alternative, try some automotive parts stores and see if they carry it or can get it.

Just go to your local GM dealership parts counter and give them the part number 1052358. I'm sure they have lots of it in stock at $12.99/4 oz. bottle.

you guys are so lucky in America, try and buy anything for a corvette in Australia, prices are so high!!
Thanks jimo,
Alot of work installing those doors but worth it,
Still some adjusting to do but that's more the body itself.
Where in Melb. are you? (I'm in Werribee).
Bloody cold this morning Huh?
Just waiting to see if I get called into work,
if not I'll be putting on my bonnet/hood stripes and
maybe swapping my rear speakers.
We'll see what "She who must be obeyed" has to say LOL.
Cheers Mate,
Gavin
