Default Question on Trico wipers

Per the NCRS Judging Guide, I decided to put Trico wiper blade holders on my 1973. The blade inserts, which are the correct 16" length, now stick out from the holder about 1/4"-3/8" on each side. The "incorrect" blade holders (didn't say Trico) I removed from the car were longer and seemed to fit the inserts better. It's a Top Flight car, so I want it original, but something doesn't look right with the Trico's:

Hi SD,
On my 71, original holders and blades, the end of the blade that the prongs on the holder clip into, stick out from the end of the holder about 3/8". The other end of the blade and holder are almost flush with each other.
Regards,
Alan

Didn't have to wait to get home, I had my car there. I kept going back and forth between the '73 being judged and my car

Well, that's like having your own private 'tech school'. It doesn't get too much better.

Here are the blade holders that I took off the car. They differ from the Trico's I bought in that they're longer and have a tab on the tips

There's no manufacturer's name on them. Just a number stamped inside one of the small arms

"185" is stamped inside one of the small arms of each blade holder where I'm pointing
