On stock wheels, yes (like they originally came from the factory). On non-stock wheels, it depends. Larger modern wheels, no. What we like, no. What you like, yes.
When I bought my new tire/wheel set up I had the same decision to make.
So I had the guy mounting the tires mount one each way so I could make a decision. After some pondering and such,, I said to put the black walls out,,,,I thought the white lettering would bring more attention to the tire at first glance rather than towards the wheel. My wheels are the torque thrust chrome wheels.
I noticed that when I look at a wheel that the lettering shows I seem to focus on the lettering right at first and then the wheel. It seems to me that the wheel is more important that the letters on the tire.
Additional thought You could put the letters showing on one side and the black wall showing on the other side, and have the best of both worlds....:smiles:
Well I like the white lettered tires. Do what you like its your car. I am a fan of the original car but tires C'mon and some have mentioned it is a bubba thing to change anything. Well if these are the only points I lose at a NCRS show SO BE IT. SO if you like the white lettered just do it. Here is a pic of my car

H'mm I am still confused, maybe I will start with just one white lettered tire and see how I like that, then two, the three and eventually maybe all 4.
i have a 76 and i think it looks good showing the white lettering!! at least you have a choice, try and buy tires with white lettering in Australia, almost impossible!!!
