Default New Antenna

My dad and I have already removed the spare tire carrier and gas tank on his -71. But before putting in the new tank we found a new radio antenna and cable. I looked at the assembly instructions manual and service manual. It looks difficult.
Is it? And should it be attempted? If so any tips or guidance’s?

Do you have a power or fixed mast antenna? If fixed mast, there's not much to it. Remove the bezel nut from the top and everything drops out the bottom. It'll take two people (or one with REALLY long arms) to install the new one as you need to hold all the parts underneth to get the bezel nut started. Do you have the AIM? (page 415 shows the install).

It is fixed. But we are also trying to replace the electrical line to the radio. Yes we do have the AIM.

Then you should be posting lots of detailed pictures and instructions to help out the forum folks who need to do this but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I give you a guess who

PS: I have both manuals and most of the pictures suck.

Not hard - -especially since you can follow the old coax and the tank is out of the way.

If you take off the side pieces of the center panel, you'll have an easier time, buit you'll still want to pull the radio forward . . but should have enough play in the wiring not to have to unplug things . . .

Goody keep dreamin about those pictures and instructions!! The pictures are not the best in the AIM to the simple minded, but after staring at them and the car they start to make sense. I found the page in the AIM it doesn't look to hard. I think I will have to revome the carpet on the floor and rear siding to get to the wires. after that (from floor to radio) I am not sure where it runs. I will try this weekend!! I hope I do not need to remove the radio completely.

BEFORE YOU START!! Make sure your antenna cable is long enough!! Mine is too short I now need to find a larger one!

can anyone recomend an antenna cable extension... non powered
