Default correct '68 shift boot?

All I have left of my shift boot are some rubber pieces. Can anyone comment on the correct boot for a Nov build date? What are the differences to the late production boots? Any supplier info would be great. Thx.

Hi R,
The only info I have on the boot is that the 68 had a 'single-fold bellows', while the 69 had a 'double-fold bellows'.
I'm sorry I can't offer any help on a supplier.
Regards,
Alan

Your Nov 67 build date has the single fold.........pretty sure later 68's and all 69's had the double folds. Not sure when the cutoff was but certain the November cars had the early type. I have an extra original single fold if you are interested in an original, however Corvette Central sells a reroduction for about $40.... pm sent, stay safe, john

Thank you Alan. I have much to learn about this '68. She'll never be a show car, but might as well replace what I can with correct parts. John, I'll send you a PM. Thx.

Early 68's like your November 67 built car has the single bellows. That is the correct one for your car. Buy the one from John. 40.00 is a gift. The repops are not quite the same. Rubber is Thin vs the originals which are thicker.
The later 68's like April has the double folds like the 69's.
Hope this helps.
Grant

I'm working on John, but I think the $40 is the repro price, not his. Thanks for the photo, Rdstr. I see you have the optional painted flags on the console, mine are only bare metal

Hi R,
Were there ANY 68 parts that didn't change during the production run?
Regards,
Alan

....my very original '68(March 19th build, #14222)has it's original single bellows style boot. Kinda suprised a repro was even made. How people with '68s really even care about putting an original style shifter boot in their car if they have a perfect double bellows style one???

My May 10, 1968 built coupe also had the single bellows, so they were still using singles that late in the model year and not the double bellows.

One of the first things I did was remove the blue leather boot and replace it with what i thought was an original style 68 boot. Years later some kind corvette expert informed me that my rubber boot was not "correct" for my early 68........... Darn!!!

oh, mine is #4473
