Default Unknown object found inside LF fender

While trying to work on an uncooperative hood release on our 1976 Corvette I saw some sort of a canister in the rear protion of the left front fender. Looks like it's some sort of filter. Can someone solve this mystery for me? Thanks

It should be your emissions evap canister. Did it have 4-5 hoses sprouting off the top????

There are hoses, unknown how many. Is this something I should be giving some maintenance attention to.

Some earlier models had a yellow filter at the bottom and others are sealed. I think your is a sealed unit.

If you aren't getting any fuel vapor odors in your garage..regardless of how short or long the car has been parked...the cannister is working as it should. Don't worry about it until you smell fuel vapors.
