Default question about engine mounts

gettin ready to drop the 427 back into the rolling chasis on my 68' restoration project. i have purchased two different sets of engine mounts, (after market made in china crap) and they seem way to snug to go onto the frame mounts. i have them mounted to the block, and haven't tried dropping the engine in place yet. the frame mounts are a little over 2.5" in width, and the engine mounts are only about 2.4"

has anyone else had problems finding engine mounts that fit better than this? i suppose the weight of the big block will spread the mounts enough to slip into place, but i have a feeling i will have to fight to get the bolts in place. does anyone know where i can find mounts that fit better?????? thanks, rick

Go to your local parts house and ask for Anchor brand mounts. They will fit. Oreilly's carrys them.

well, i went to Orielys today and got the anchor mounts........they are actually tighter than the other two mounts that i have by about a 1/4"

i tried this evening to drop the engine on the the frame mounts using the "best" mounts that i have located, and no go, they are just too tight to slip down on to the frame mounts.

anyone else have suggestions on where to get motor mounts that actually fit?? rick
