Default Brake Line

I am looking to rebuilding my brake system on my 74 Corvette and needed help figuring out what size tubing I should use(1/4in, 3/8,etc...)? Can anybody help me out? Thank you

you can buy them pre bent...I don't think they are that expensive, but I can not answer your original question...can you measure what you have?

I haven't measured them. I know they sell them pre-bent for like $200 with shipping, but I'm kind of on a budget, and it also seems like something I can do in my spare time.

I tried making mine too. Wasted too many just rying to make the bends and I still wasn't confident that I didn't have a pinch somewhere.

Unless you've done it before on someone elses car, don't mess with your brakes. Go to In-Line Tube. I ended up doing this and it was well worth it!

I don't know the exact diameter but those sizes are much too large. If you have an old-time auto parts store in your area ask them what the "standard" size brake line is for older cars. Inside diameter is probably closer to 1/8-3/16". You can probably buy a roll of line that can be formed easily. I would recommend either renting or buying a bending tool and a flaring tool so that you can finish things off properly. You can either re-use your fittings if they are in good condition or buy new ones at the parts store.

Many of the pre-bent tubing kits come with the wire wrap around the tubing to protect it from stone hits, etc. I don't know where you could find that protective wrapping. You probably should replace the brass junction blocks as well.

OK, I'm going to try to find a good price for a set of lines. Anybody knows how many blocks I will need to replace for the brakes?
