I tried this in the Tech/Performance section w/ no luck, I'll give you all a try.....
I need new tires. I've previously received advice from Forum members that Diamond Back is best source for redlines on my '68. Since Diamond Back will vulcanize the redline, it's up to me to select the tire. My '68 is all original and I'm interested in keeping a original/classic look to the tires, but certainly don't want to go the bias-ply route. Bias-ply tires have a "square" sidewall to tread setup that I wish to duplicate as much as possible in a radial tire. BF Goodrich Silvertowns have more of a "rounded" look to the sidewall/tread that to me really does not look very authentic.
Can anyone advise of a radial tire that has a "square-ish" sidewall/tread appearance and has decent load and speed ratings (min. of S)?
Remember, if you order from Diamond Back, they are a little nervous about the right tire size. They insisted I order 225s for my '69, when 215s were actually the correct original stock size. I finally had to insist on the 215s... they were hesitant about installation. (68 is smaller but you might hear the same stuff).

I put 225-70-15 redlines from Diamondback on my 68. They are Yokahamas so they handle very well. They are a bit wider than stock, but look great on the stock rims. No clearance issues. I have heard of several problems with Coker tires and balance issues. DB was excellent to deal with.
Interesting that they were only offered in the late 60's for Corvettes, when they were available as early as during the '64 model year for other GM cars. Remember first seeing them on '64 GTO's and then on other division muscle cars.
