Default Question about stainless trim rings

I noticed the other day that someone in the past has changed my trim rings over to stainless steel. Why is this so popular? Do the originals get rusty,or easily damaged, or ???

Original gm rings are stainless!!!!! Just be careful of repros, they tend to not have the inner edge curled over exposing a sharp edge, don't ask how I found that out!!!!!

Original rings get changed because of curb scratches, scratches from washing or broken clips. The GM rings do not rust and cost about $100/ea
Reproduction rings may rust if you buy the repros that are "steel" with nickel (yellow) or chrome plating. These are always much cheaper and we do not sell them.
Virginia Vettes sell stainless steel reproduction rings that the base metal is stainless steel, polished, and then chrome plated. They sell for $65/set
We have the 15 X 3" for the 7" & 8" wheels and the 15X 2 1/2" for the 6" wheels.
For the Camero or Chevelle owners we now have a 15 X 1 1/4" for the 5 spoke factory wheels for the same price.

No offense to aftermarket stuff, but when it comes to such things as trim rings and the center caps, spend the money and keep it all GM. If it can still be had from Chevy, don't bother with the repro stuff, save that for carpet and other things you CAN'T get...........

A decent set of stainless trim rings with correct configuration and 4 attachment clips can be had for $65. That is a lot better than spending $400 and having the risk that those will be damaged or stolen. Then you can save the 'real' GM pieces for a special occassion or judged show.

You take it to a tire shop without removing the caps and rings? (Sorry...it's a rhetorical question...)
