Guys, found a 68 smog pump, 234 pulley, early SB 68 diverter...... etc today...........the white fan is toast and the pump is seized......the date (Jan 68) is a little early for my car. I may have it rebuilt, not sure..... I know, call Bill Hodel!..........before I do, what is a good estimate to rebuild a smog pump and a diverter? Thanks, John

I rebuilt my 70 smog pump myself. Chances are all you will need to do is douse it with a can of blaster and re-pack the rear bearing cluster. The front bearing is a sealed bearing. Mine was free and felt good, but I went ahead and heated it up and pressed it out, replacing it with a new one purchased from "The Bearing House" here in StL. The old bearing was groved and epoxyed in. Today they have high tech bearing seal which I used when pressing the new bearing in place.
I never rebuilt a diverter valve, but there cheap. I think I let one go for a song a while back.

P.S. I have some old pics if you feel brave.

Yes sir you did.........some lucky guy got that! I bought this thinking it was for a 69. When I received it today, I realized it was a 68 SB. The diverter is the same one "gentleman" sold me a while back, but not nearly as nice. It's going to go (the new one, it's cruddy)Thanks for the advice,
PS, your diverter is my creme de la creme...........the crown jewel waiting for the right pump!
Do you happen to have a spare divertor bracket for a 68?
no sorry, just the one that came on this one.......I dont actually need the diverter /bracket etc, bought the setup thinking it was for a 69., got it saw it was 68. I purchased a real nice diverter etc from Bullshark about a year or so ago, so this new one will defintely be sold. Just trying to figure if I should have it all rebuilt or not first...........

dibs on the bracket if you decide to break it up.... I need everything but the pump and diverter.
