i always wanted a vette and after having some project cars not worth buying slide past this week i decided to say screw it and buy a vette.
I went to look at a few and finally ended up picking a almost fully restored 73. its got a 454 and m21 trans with everything being just returned to factory spec. It is an all matching number car with factory air and t tops. every option in the car works and the only thing left to do is fix the chipped paint on the nose and a dent in the rear chrome bumper.
where i was originally not liking the front bumper as i had my heart set on a 69 427 after 1 test drive i was sold.
sadly in NY it has been raining all day today and im dieing to drive it.
i have to say i think i made a good choice since the 73 is a year that is unique with the bumper options and the last year of the 454.
congrats, just bought me 73-350 #s match 3 months ago. was a 30 year dream to fruition.
do you happen to know how many 73-454s they made? some one mentioned one at a local car show last week and my first thought was pretty rare? that was an erra of gas crisis i think?
just curious. got the humble 350 in mine and is still fun to drive.

According to the Corvette Black Book 4412 came off the assembly line with the 454ci under the hood, I also just joined the 73 owners club, found a dark blue coupe/dark blue interior sitting on a very small used car lot in Milwaukee Wisc. has the original 350ci/190hp engine with the auto trans, a/c p/s p/b, flew over to Milwaukee last Tuesday and drove the car 360 miles to Minneapolis-St. Paul.
Congratulations!! Enjoy your new toy, the weather has been awful around here. It is going to be a nice weekend, you should be able to drive her. Post pics. of your weekend cruise.
got to cruse with it a little last night and i have to say it is a blast.i have driven new vettes before but something about just driving this car makes me smile. Its amazing how i just relaxed with the t tops off and the window down and simply drove.
i got a ton of complements already on the car and on the condition of it so i have to say im totally hooked on it.
i cant wait to fix the few small issues with the body and get it repainted.
This is the best fathers day present to myself. (and i have the wifes permission )
cant wait now for carlisle to come up. this will be my 4 or 5 time but my first with a vette
I have a 73 BB convertible that I am getting ready to restore. Do you know how many convertible 454's were made. Also where is this 73 owners club.
thanks
