Default 73 Center Consol

I hate to ask....but how the hell does the center E-Brake consol come out. Its a 73. Now, I can get it released (4-screws) but I can not get the rear to budge. I don't see a bolt either? What's the trick?

Please help, going nutso....

There are two nuts at the back of the console that have to be removed from the underneath side.

Now when you say underneath side....is that under the car or under the plastic cover...and are they straight back, or to one side and down towards the carpet...I don't see them from my vantage point?

Open the center rear compartment- there's a 1/4 bolt that gets the e-brake console. It's in the center, right under the top of the console.

When you put it back together - not that you're going to take it out alot - put a bolt in the center rear compartment, and nut on the console side so you can slip it on and it will be held by other screws. While you are there - I put some misc foam insulation at the rear of the e-brake console as that is where your elbow weight is and it should avoid any cracking of the console.

Better yet.... Just cut the head off the rear retaining bolt and round the end of the shank. Screw it into the e-brake frame before you install it (put a locking nut on the inside end of that bolt) and just push that bullet-nosed shank into the hole in the bulkhead when you install it. You'll never have to remove that bolt again.
