Default Speednut kit??

Got the emblem speednut kit from Willcox a while ago, starting to put things together now finally. What are all the 52 speednuts for?? The rear letters came with their own acorn nuts, and the speednuts in the kit dont really seem to fit anything else. Says its for the emblems 70-72.

Thanks!

I suspect the kit you have is to install all the emblems regardless of whether or not acorn nuts were provided.

I've had to put speed nuts on the Corvette scripts and the hood emblems.

On my 73, acorn nuts are used for the rear corvette letters, hood emblem and gas lid emblem.

Maybe Willcox will join in to elaborate.

If you have any left-overs send them up to me.

Ian,

Thanks... My rear letters came with their own acorn nuts. The side STINGRAY emblems have black adhesive on the back, and none of the speednuts in the kit seem to really fit. Eight of the huts are for the marker lights, and I think 2 for the hood emblem. I'm not using my rear door emblem as I bought a lemans racing flip cap. So their will be a few left over I'm sure.

Tommy at WC wasnt much help either (thanks Tommy!!)

Thanks, now that makes more sense. I didnt remember the front grills took speednuts. What about the side vents? One at the bottom?

Thanks again!

Hi Rob,

I just tried to stick the emblems on the sides of my fenders and font there is a slight arch in the fender/script that needs to get pulled in with a couple of speed nuts. None of the speed nuts I have fit either so no the frornt of my emblem is sticking out a little.

If you can find a couple of nuts that fit hnag on to them. They might just get you out of a bind.

My side emblems fit great, perfectly flat with no speed nuts. The front flags really dont fit at all, ...raised way up in the middle, and no way to pull it down.

Rob,

I bought that speed nut kit and hardly used any of them. They don't seem to fit anything. As far as your front emblem....I don't want to insult your smarts, but are you sure its a nose emblem and not a gas door emblem? (I know, I know. But I had to ask!) I bought a repop emblem for my nose and it fit perfectly.

You mean they're different??

Seriously, I do know the difference, and since I had the hood surround replaced, that may be the problem. Still should fit though. I believe the gas lid emblem has threaded studs on the back, for a nut. I have a new one in the box but decided to go with the lemans style cap contraption.

Thanks anyway, Jerry!
