Default 73 stingray silly question

my father in law just purchased a 73 stingray, all original with only 59000 original miles. it has the 454 with a 4 speed.

the other day while he was driving he noticed a vent blowing air right behind his seat, and he cant figure out what it is. hes tried turning the air off and it still blows and even disconnected the air conditioning system completely and it still blew air. what is the vent?

he was also wondering if anybody knew where he could get a book with all the information about that year corvette. any info would be greatly apprecciated. please email chrisoconor@gmail.com about the vent and if any such book is heard of. thanks guys.

Its the rear window defogger....switch (round ****) is on drivers side lower center consol.

The vent behind the drivers head is the defogger for the rear window. It is controlled by a chrome plated round **** mounted on a rotary switch on the side of the console at the drivers feet.

As far as documentation goes any Corvette vendor will have the assembly manual (AIM), reprinted service manual, and several published books on the restoration of Corvettes. The AIM and chassis service manuals are 'musts' to keep the Corvette running. Zip Products, Ecklers, Dr. Rebuild, Paragon are the ones I use.

BTW, welcome to the 73 Corvette World. If you will let me include your '73 in my registry/database see my signature to email me the information I collect.
