Default Need a timing light

What is a good timing light to buy? I found this one and looked at it in the store, but wondered about prices, features, etc. Can I find a decent light for less? I like this one and it seems to do what I want it to, but I don't want to spend that much for a tool I may only use once or twice. I'm normally not worried about price, but hate to spend with my job situation. http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...ProductId=1795

Check pricing at Amazon, the one in your link is $22 more than what it is at Amazon. I have been using an Equus 3568 Innova...it was about $65.

If you just went to check/set base timing on your engine, just go to a couple of pawn shops and find one for less than $20. If you buy one, use the internet (Amazon, etc.) and get one with a clip-over spark wire pickup and a dial-back feature so you can always reference to the timing mark on the damper.

I have a really old one that must be clipped to an exposed spark plug lead. i definitely want one that dials back. I really hope I can find a friend to borrow one from or borrow one from a local parts place, as mentioned above.

Had a Craftsman dial back. It has a plastic material type inductive pickup. Twice, the pickup got too close to the headers, close, not touching, and melted the pickup enough to render the light usless. BTW, new pickup is almost $50.

I now have a Actron dial back with a metal pickup.

I picked up a Snap on digital dial back light in one of our pawn shops for $35. You can find a Sears and Matco for $20 to $25 in most pawn shop.

I am looking to buy one in the next few days.
What's the model number of the Sears/Craftsman one that a lot of people are talking about?

I have the Actron Model# CP7519 with dial back feature. The induction clamp is made of plastic but I clamp the #1 cable at the distributor end. Works well for me. Had it for several years. They now make them with metal clamps. Good product.

I have two. At first I borrowed. Then I bought a basic ($40). Recently picked up a digital dial back w/ rpm ($100). I'll send you the basic no charge if you don't mind paying shipping. I definitely suggest buying a digital dial back w/ rpm, though. Makes everything so easy.
