I finally got around to replacing my worn carpet (thanks to a fellow forum member who helped get me started). I ripped out the old carpet, etc. and vacuumed up 30+ years of dust. I laid down some dynamat extreme & cool tech heat barrier. Bought some kick panels and cut a nice hole in them for speakers. Now, I have to run the wires for the new stereo system (Alpine CD/ipod, Boston Acoustics 3 way system in kicks, Kicker 10" sub in rear, 2 Kicker amps). Here's some pics:
I'm gonna be doing this sometime this week or next week. I just need to decide if I want to redo the sterio while the carpet is out or wait to do it when I have more cash.
Hey guys, just a word of caution. Be double sure all your wiring that comes into contact with the reflectix or dynamat does not have any cracks or frays as this will cause a short. I almost caught my car on fire after doing this due to a wire going to the rear cargo lamp shorting out on the reflectix. For some reason, it didn't blow the fuse but melted all the wires going from the connection under the dash all the way to this lamp.
Tell Jake good job!

Thanks for the pictures. I'm in the process of doing a floorboard re-build and these were exactly what I needed to see. Great to see a new generation working on these cars, too!
I should've posted a pic of the license plate - "Jake71". I actually bought the car when he was born, so we would have something to share together as he grew up. At least, that's story I told my wife (she bought it !).
I'm going to try to post more pics later this week. I have to dynamat the rear cargo area. I'm having trouble getting the shoulder belts off. The bolt head is shallow (sorta recessed) and I can't get a socket on it. I also have to start figuring out how I want to mount the amps & subwoofer. I'd like to go with a stealth look.
