I am preparing to install a 75 tach into my 72 coupe and I just got a replacement tach board from willcox but it looks nothing like the original. The original has the numbers 6495708 F and this board is about 2 inches tall and 4.5 inches long. The new board is from willcox in a bag labeled corvette america X2484 75-77 tach printed circuit board and it is about half the size of the original.
is this the correct replacement for my 75 tach??? SHould I not be worried about a completely different size of board?
If you received the right board great! If not contact sales at 800-588-3883 tomorrow and we'll get another one heading your way.
I have a video on the 78-82 install but it's different from your car.
You should watch the video below! It shows you how to do the zero set before installing the tach in the car and aside from being a little different, will show you how easy the board can be installed.
On your car you remove the plastic back that the three terminals come out of. Once you do this you should see how to take the rest apart. It's pretty much a can't miss but watch the video anyway!
Make sure you test this before you intall it in the car!
I watched the Wilcox video before...and its got some pretty good tips. I did my tach board replacement before the video was out and did some of that without its guidance.
i recieved the correct one for sure then. I guess it was just so much smaller than the original that it threw me off. I have watched the tach install video and really thought it was great. As always, thanks for the info and great service!
