Hello,
Although I'm new to the forum I have owned several corvettes over the years.
Just finished a 65 roadster resto. and I am now eyeing up a hi option 69 coupe thats been sitting in the corner of the garage for a few years. Will be restored mostly stock but will take a few liberties on some upgrades.
In 73 as you know more sound deadening was added but probably the most effective change was the rubber body mounts. Has anyone out there either used, adapted, or had any experience with aftermarket rubber body mount on a 68-72?
Thanks for your help.
you bet, I replaced my crumbling aluminum, with Poly mounts,
it will add app. 3/16 to the height of your car over the orginals.
you have to buy mounts for a 73, no one makes non-alumin. replacements for the 68-72.

I agree it is not "rocket science" to go to rubber. My concern was that in 73 G.M. lowered the body mount brackets a bit on the frame to compensate for the new rubber mounts. Will the body sit noticeably higher on the 69 frame with 73 body mounts?

Common misconception. There was no change in the frame brackets on the 73's or later. I've compared pre and post 73 frames side by side and the brackets are identical.
Anyone have before & after PICS showing the difference in body height?
I would also think the rubber mounts would cut down on vibration caused stress cracks, which drive me crazy.
