Lots of people bought 78 pace cars as investments because back in 78 each dealer only got one car. Most people paid over sticker, between 20 & 30k for cars. Put Then away thinking the price would go sky high. Now after 50th anniversary edition came out they started coming out of the wood work but unfortunately the buyers were only getting there investment back. 6300 mile is actually high on a pace car and shows that is was at least used for 200 miles a year which allowed the fluids to moisten the seal. Enjoy the ride and drive it. That's what it was made for.
The guy I'm talking to wants $28000 and is 150 miles away from me. Is this a good deal? I think it's to high.
very high. you should be able to buy what you are looking for in the high teens or 20k tops (and i believe that is probably pushing it a bit).
remember that if the car has been sitting all these years (the mileage having been put on in the early years) you are probably looking at the minimum of replacing seals and most rubber parts that have dried out from not being used.
What is a 78 Corvette L82 / auto with 94,000 miles worth.
I am looking at getting a value for this 78 Corvette Pace Car with 94,000 miles.
L82 350 with Automatic. Paint is factory with a few thin spots. It looks presentable, and does not need to be repainted. Interior is in great condition.
Looking for what it would sell for?? Great looking car!
Ignore those price guides, they are almost universally useless and overinflated. Thats a good looking car and I would say worth more than 8k. 14k is a reach however.
Ask what you want, if people are interested they will call and try to deal down on teh price.

Thanks for your reply. I would hope to get $12,000 next spring.
tried to sell my 78 silver ann this summer (original survivor 85,000km, original paint,no air) It was appraised for 14,000cdn Lots of tire kickers for 10,500 . Car is in a barn now , will try again next spring. Thats my experience in Ontario,Canada
3,025 mile L82 4-speed is a very fine car. owner wants 34k though. jetbluepilot. orlando, fl area.
I sold this car to someone from the UAE. Sad to see it shipped overseas. It sold for $37,900 after the eBay auction was over. The car had 3025 miles on it, had the original window sticker and EPA stickers on the passenger window and plastic still on the seats. The car was also NCRS Top Flight at the Orlando NCRS Regional in January 2008.
There are only a few 1978 Corvette Pace Car L-82 4-speeds out there. It makes sense to find one with low miles, in good mechanical condition with excellent paint. To correctly repaint any Corvette runs around $10K. Many are willing to spend $10K on a paint job if it's for a 1967 437/435 Corvette, but are not willing to spend that kind of money on a small block C-3. It's not worth the investment.
The only way to get a good handle on 78 Pace Car values is to monitor Craigslist, ebay, online Covette dealers, collector car online sites and the car auctions.
Based on close to 300 auction results:
Very Good: $26,000
Driver Condition: $19,000
Needs TLC: $14,500
This is October 2009 results. The price of a Corvette will be about 1500 to 2000 less in the fall, than the spring time of the year.
