As long as I've owned this Corvette it has produced very strong exhaust fumes that would smell up the garage and the kitchen (shares a common wall with the garage).
Yesterday I installed my new radiator from Willcox and now the exhaust fumes are gone. My clothes no longer smell like exhaust nor do I.
I'm not complaining and my wife certainly isn't complaining but I don't understand the change.
The only thing I can think of is that the engine was never running at the proper temperature to burn off the hydrocarbons to begin with because the old radiator could not maintain the required 15 pounds of pressure without springing leaks.
So I'm asking those of you who understand the internal combustion process much more thoroughly than I do for your opinions.
WTF,O?

Did you tighten anything else while you were working on the car? (exhaust manifold bolt(s), manifold outlet, heat riser?) Do you have an A.I.R. pump that now works because you put a belt back on the pump at reassembly?

No, the only other change I made was to replace the factory stock closed air cleaner with a '71 open element air cleaner.
