storing c3 for summer? yeah sounds weird. maybe head north for the summer, then you shouldn't feel guilty for driving it every chance you get like us poor suckers stuck up here.
I don't like driving with the tops on - anybody else feel the same???
It's been years since I've driven my '71 with the top up. We got caught in a rain storm driving from Seattle to Napa. Other than washing it, the top is always down.
We hit 112° a few weeks ago, and there was no way I was driving it. The vinyl gets hot and radiates heat for what seems like weeks.
I love the responses! I guess I need to just count my blessings and be happy i have a good solid 9 or so months of top-off cruising weather to enjoy - right? Much more fun seeing the tops of palm trees go by verses dodging falling snow and sleet!
Got home and the voltage was showing below 13 at idle. Got my meter out - it was 12.70 volts. Turned off the A/C (yes - I run A/C with my tops off - call Al Gore!) and voltage went up to 13.56. Ya'll think I may have an alternator problem?

Not necessarily. When I replaced my carb recently, I was able to get a good quality idle at a much lower rpm than before. It idles nicely now at 600 where I was at 800-850 before. With the idle that low, and the brake lights on at a stoplight, I noticed that my ammeter is below zero, so the alternator isn't charging in that condition. Talking to local gearheads, they don't think that is anything abnormal. I'm sure that if I turned on the AC, the draw would be even higher, so the system voltage would show battery voltage, which should be around 12.8 volts.

Thanks for the reply!
My idle is in the 800-850 rpm range - voltmeter looks great at idle with A/C off. With A/C on, I can't increase the voltage even if I increase the revs!
