Paint Code 945
Help! - I am about to repaint my 1972 it's original color - Bryar Blue (945)
I noticed that code 945 is also used for 1973 Blue Green
Are they the same color ?? ... I really don't want to get this wrong if they are different shades

I don't think they are the same color,if I remember correctly the 73 has a lot more green in it. Just make sure you specify that you want the 1972 version of code 945 and the color name is Bryar Blue and you should be all set

I would get a paint chart from PPG or Dupont and use the formulation number not the GM number.
The 72 Targa Blue and the 73 Dark Blue both have the same GM number 927 but different PPG numbers.

I love this forum - 945 Blue Green and 945 Bryar Blue do appear to be very different - thanks for helping me get this right !

Nope. Those are the original DuPont, Ditzler, and R-M numbers. I would think your Sikkens dealer could match the color.

Unless the chart is wrong they are not the same number. 72 was 945 73 was just 45. Should be no problem at the paint store.

Does anyone know of any Bryar Blue Corvettes for sale? I've been looking all over the place to no avail. Seems as though a lot of the cars that were painted with the 945 were 454's and LT-1s

GM re-used exterior color codes from time to time. You need to specify the paint color code and the model year to be sure you get the correct color.
My '71 is Bridgehampton Blue, GM code 979. 1972 Targa Blue is also 979, but the two are very different shades of blue. When you choose a color, get a color chip to check the match.
P.S. I've seen a couple of '70/71 cars with '72 Targa Blue on them...but they claimed it was Bridgehampton Blue. I'm guessing the paint guy didn't know the "issues" with GM paint codes.

I've seen what you are talking about. This car here appears to be Bridgehampton Blue, even though it wasn't offered in 1972.

Thanks for the tip. I was able to find that one. The car is a few k out of my range. I sent an e-mail last week with what my budget is, no reply.

Bryar Blue is a great color, one of my favorites.BTW,from the pics a asking price of 19,500 is pretty good for that 72.
