Default '71 steering column rebuild

Hi all,,
new to this, but I'm in the middle of a resto for a '71 and I'm looking for any help I can get on two things:
a. tilt/tele sterring column rebuild kit, instructions, guide - whatever, I just need to rebuild this thing.

b. question: I've replaced the interlock cable with a new one as the old one was kinked, and the key wouldn't come out. Now, 2 months later, the same thing happened, the new cable is kinked in the same spot. what's up? I'd hate to get a new one and have it happen again.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi lwp,
Jim Shea is THE steering column MAN! Search for his threads.
Where is the kink occuring? That might give someone a clue as to why.
Regards,
Alan

If you are getting another column lock cable, get the reproduction instead of the service replacement. The reproduction will be less likely to kink, it has a metal sheath with a wire wrapped around. Make sure you have both brackets on the transmission, they should help prevent the kinking.
