BB ground clearance
I was under my relatively new to me BB 74 and noticed that there's less than 4" of ground clearance beneath the oil pan. Is this normal or did the DPO (Dreaded Previous Owner) install a deep sump and/or lowering springs?

That's probably about right. My 69 BB- factory oil pan, sacttershield, on a KwikLift. That black beam across the center under the tire is about a 4" drop.

4 inches sounds about right. I'm still repairing damage from the previous owner, like replacing a dented oil pan, welding a crack in the bottom of my bell housing, straightening the metal plate on the bottom of the front crossmember, fixing a small tear in the rear crossmember, replacing the front air dam and thinking about replacing my dented side exhaust covers. I avoid any parking lots with speed bumps and am very careful when going over gutters/swales with any amount of dip to them.
