I am not very mechanically adept but I really like this car. I have a friend/mentor who is willing to go and look at the car (as I am aware of my own limited knowledge). I am struggling to understand the values and ranges I see in the different posts. I need advice on what to ask / look for. How are you able to determine on a car like this? Any initial reactions? Pretty limited info - am trying to find out more.
Please don't blast at me w/ comments. We all start learning somewhere.
First of all, you'll soon gonna have to change that forum username
That looks like a beautiful piece of work, but it seems to be pretty custom. Many guys here are pushing towards the authentity, so you might get some negative thoughts from them. However, if it's a car you like, then have it inspected by a qualified Corvette mechanic that shouldn't be hard to find. There are a bit too few photos there to comment anything in detail. Give the guy a call, ask about birdcage rust and frame rust, how much is custom and original.

Hey Nic. That's one radical '76 there. One of the hardest things to determine on a custom is value. First what was put into it & what it's worth often have nothing to do with each other. With a custom it comes down finding a person who likes what he see's & is willing to pay for it. The nicest stock '76 in the world would never hit $23k. So is this high? Maybe.....
$23K for a car with a fake blower intake and a hole in the hood? Not on my watch.... If the mechanical components and the paint on the car are perfect, that car is not worth more than $15K.
I suggest you keep shopping. I doubt this is a daily driver...unless you can drive a car during the winter without a heater. Is there an air filter in that scoop? Hope so...
Always makes me laugh when I see things like "$30,000 invested" and the sale price is much lower. Not much of an 'investment' if you ask me. There are some REALLY nice custom cars on this forum for sale that are less money and MUCH nicer (in my opinion...).

It's a tough call..............
i agree with SEVNT6
if you were in Australia, i would expect to pay big dollars, but from what i have seen with the American market, i think you can do better!!
I personaly think that you answered your own question. you're not mechanicly inclined and this kind of car needs that kind of background.you could learn with it, but if it were up to me I would pass.. Just my 2cents....
For comparison, I just sold the 76 in my avatar for $9000. The one you're looking at is very custom and might be disappointing to a first time vette owner, especially if you plan to drive it to more than just car shows. However, it is beautiful.

Didn't look at the car. The only thing you need to know is, are you willing to pay for what you get?
Custom cars can come with a lot of hidden or soon to be discovered problems. A person doesn't sink a ton of money into a car and then turns around to sell it without a good reason.
Light or moderate mods are something we all do, unless you're going for NCRS status.
My advise is, if you're going to spend that kind of money. Get a "turn key"/restored C3 and enjoy. Leave the "customs" to someone who likes to spin wrenches and cuss at the previous owner.....
Stay very far away from that, that has mistake written all over it. You will be a lot happier in the long run with a stock maybe slightly modified vette. Just my opinion, trying to save you some grief.
