Quick Question Transmission cooling line fix
Just wanted to get an opinion.
The transmission cooling sprung a leak, well more like a shower.
It seems that where the transmission cooling line is clamped to the frame (near the rad), it has rusted away.
I've ordered new lines but they aren't going to show up for 3 weeks.
Would it be acceptable to cut away the rusted piece and replace it with the proper hose with clamps as a temporary fix?
Has anybody done this?
PS: My vette is a 1980 vintage
Thanks in Advance

Yes that will work, it's a good temporary fix.

Thanks for the quick response guys.
I'll start on it tomorrow.
Didn't want the vette sitting around for 3 weeks.

Make sure it's tied so it won't get cut on anything. Don't forget- close to 100 PSI on that line too. Good clamps and double them up way back from the cut end of the hose.

I've done this on several cars. Use double clamps - good and tight, and secure the hose so it doesn'r rub on the frame. The fix will last forever.

The hose needs to be rated for elevated pressures...probably good for 100 psi (cooler lines can see up to 40psi or so).
