Default 71 Corvette Coupe value

I am looking at a 71 Corvette Coupe that is supposedly restored with new paint, rebuilt engine, trans, suspension, brakes. The owner is not sure if it is the original motor.
he is asking $14,500 for the car. is this a good deal assuming that everything he is saying is correct?
I know a 71 may not be as desireable to some as a 69, but I would assume that any of the c3 chrome bumper cars would be desireable..

What would a fully restored matching number 71 be worth in this market?

The ad is below..

1971 CORVETTE T TOP RESTORED 350 4 SPEED ,Air conditing ,power steering , power windows , tele tilt ,red ,rebuilt motor ,4 speed ,clutch ,rear end ,and everything else .Great car ,nice new paint .Leave your number .We can set an appointment .Thanks

First of all, how do you own the car and not know if the numbers match or not? (restamp issues aside right now)

The only way you can start guessing is to assume "uh... I don't know" is code for "no, the numbers don't match." And therefore, the price is too high.

On the plus side: air, nice options good color (but only if the trim tag matches). Obviously being a coupe will keep the price down a bit.

You need to look closely before coming up with a ballpark, here.

Any pictures that aren't so tiny?

Hi CT,
As VB said you need to know SO MUCH more about this car to form any serious opinion of it's value.
The ad says 'restored', you say 'fully restored', what do those words mean to the seller and to you?
Need lots of information and lots of pictures to even make a guess that is meaningful.
Regards,
Alan

ee52 album in Photobucket does not have any corvette photos in it and no subfolders. Could be a scammer, I'd move carefully.

assume engine is not original... ( it is hard to guarantee originality even if the numbers match), if color and interior is correct and the drivetrain/brakes etc have been rebuilt and above all if the metal is good thruout.. then this is a nice car.. especially with ac and PS/PB... if it is a base 350 car then it is not that big of a hit for NOM...

I'd say that's a good price, if the mechanicals are truly rebuilt and the chassis/birdcage is in solid shape, and it doesn't need paint.

Thanks to JW72 for sending me a PM after posting this..

He sold me his 3 owner all original 39,000 mile beauty...

It has its original War Bonnet Yellow paint with Saddle interior.

I looked at no less than 30 cars before settling on this one.. Let me tell you, there is a lot of junk out there for extremely high prices with NOM, 5 repaints of a different color, and other mods. This one is as stock as you can get except for an Edelbrock carb, and LT1 valve covers. i do have the original Quadrajet which I plan on rebuilding and installing.

I bought the car for a very fair price and will continue to enjoy it for years to come..

Thanks again JW72...

Todd,
I hope you enjoy the vette as much as I did. I was not going to ship it out of the state/county even if it cost me money. That car belongs on PCH.
