Default My Vette Question

Hi guys,

I have posted on here a few times before about my 82 Vette. Here is my dilemma. I had bought a beautiful 350 engine with dual carbs and a lot of horsepower. I was planning to do a CFI to Carb conversion. However, I am not sure that that is what I want to do anymore. I could sell the engine, have more than enough money to get it running and play with it for awhile, then mod it out when I'm older and have more time, money and patience (I'm 20 and in college). Or i can have it sit for awhile and work on it bit by bit. Any advice?

You need to get it running first. The CFI was designed for a 305 so the intake is the major restriction. Something to consider is mounting the 2 TB on a dual quad intake.

Hi VG82,
My experience is that when you're older, yes, you'll have MORE patience, but LESS time and money to spend on a car! It's a cruel world.
Regards,
Alan

I agree with the patience part but since I retired I have all the time in the world and I seem to carry around more mad money in my wallet then I made in a week when I bought my first vette in the sixties! Admittedly the value of a dollar then and now is not the same.

I got a little confused what you are asking so I might be a bit vague,
The worse thing in the world to do with a car is allow it to just sit, projects have a way of ever getting tinkered with and things that are in good shape will go south just sitting for months or worse years,
The CFI on an 82 is contrary to what some like to say a very good set up for the stock engine it is on,
The limitations with it is that in a performance application it just can't be made to breathe very well, ,

Dual carbs are cool looking and fun at the 1320 or a show until they go out of adjustment,
for a simple car to drive by a person with limited tinkering time I suggest get the 82 running driving the quickest easiest way, single carb or CFI and have fun with it now when you can, then down the road as time and all permits mod or rebuild or whatever you like to do,
