Default Fiberglass Replacement

Hi, I anybody here could help me out with my 74 corvette.I'm not sure how to post a pic here, but am going to see what I can do about it.
Ok, I tried but the best I could do were post them to one of my albums, "missing piece," I was wondering if anyone here could donate or sell me the piece that is marked on the pics. I don't have the money to buy a whole new fender and I think it would be easier to replace just that piece instead of putting on a whole new piece or trying to just add a whole ton of fiberglass and have it looking all deformed, plus I'm in school right now and don't really have the time to do this, or money for a whole new fender. If anyone could donate it I would pay for shipping, of course. Thank you very much

I know a guy that is parting out a '74 with a good front clip. I bought the right fender to fix my car. He will only sell a full fender though. I paid $100 for the right one. I'm sure the left would be the same price.

I don't want to come off like a huge braying jackass,
But if you are a highschool age person and have a vette be happy and thankful of that and get a part time job ( Like I did ) to fuel your hobby,
Asking for a handout from people who work hard for their hobby doesn't always float well, many time people will give away a small nothing part, but allow them that option,
With that said,
Root around graigslist, I build all my vettes on a heck of a budget by hunting stuff cheap,
I couldnt find your posted picture so I dont know what you need, if it's some little thing perhaps you will luck out,

Some members have been know to donate parts usually around Christmas but at other times through the year as well.

It sounds like this guy wants a piece of a fender and I'd wouldn't be surprised if someone had a chunk of a busted up fender to give away.

Plus, he did say donate or sell

You know Rick I am ashamed of myself I hope the general "attitude" of the forum isn't wearing off on me,
I didn't see his pictures, couldn't find any but I too might have the part in my junk pile I lovingly call "Yard art"

No need to be ashamed Bats but I hope the general attitude hasn't got that bad. There are times things get a little heated but overall the guys here seem ok.

I can't see a picture either but it sounds like he just wants a part of a fender.

Have you considered repairing the existing damage? Almost all of the pieces are still there. I think it would easier, faster and a lot cheaper to fix the existing damage. Straighten it out as best you can, apply several layers of duct tape on the inside and grind down and apply several layers of fiberglass (use random oriented strand mat, not the cloth). Sand and fill. Your primary weak are is lack of experience, but there is a lot of helpful souls on this board that would be willing to give you advice on how to do the fiberglass work.

We have all been there. Needing a spare part, having the ability to repair, and just not enough money.

Try Eckler's. He may have a partial fender to fix that whack.

Easy fix, no fiberglass work, no splicing in a piece.

Get thin strips of metal, wood, plastic, whatever, about 1" wide and several inches long. Coat with adhesive (JB weld, epoxy, even liquid nails. Apply to INSIDE of broken area, along vertical edge at front, and horizontal edges above and below the marker light housing. Manually adjust to reform outside fender shape.

Fill outside of repaired area with fibered filler (bondoglass, tiger hair), sand, prime, paint.

I am sure he will have plenty of busted up fenders out there and will be glad to sell you just the piece that you need. If you cut the body panel right where you have the lines drawn on your picture it will make the job a lot easier. It is better and faster to splice parts cut along straight lines. You can use some thin bolts/nuts with large washers on both sides of the panel to hold the replacement panel flush to the body panel. Once in the correct place you can start to add the fiberglass pieces to make your repair. Fiberglass work isn't that hard, takes a little time and is a little dusty. Good Luck on your project, houstonvett

Thank you, I did say "or sell" I have seen people that have been very generous and donated pieces before that they didn't need off of their parts car. As a matter of fact, someone here on the forum needed a chunk of the rear fender and someone was generous enough to give him the piece, and this wasn't too long ago.

I'm not asking for a "handout" as I also said "or sell." I have searched all over craigslist and ebay, but haven't been able to find what I need. Some people already posted the pics on here and I want to say thank you to them.

Jordan,
Try http://www.gmsportssalvage.com/
They are in the bay area and usually have a lot of parts cars.

You will get the parts that you need at a reasonable price.
