I don't want to high jack your thread but do have an L-88 question, actually several,
I would match knowlage with anyone on custom parts but factory rare stuff I am a tad bit weak on,
My questions are based on things I have heard thru the years,

Is an L-88 too radical to daily drive in traffic?

Are all L-88 cars accounted for?

How many are there?

Did all L-88 Corvettes come with flares?

Were the flares ever factory installed, if so how many?

What did GM call the flares? what I mean is did GM call them L-88 flares or just flares?

Did all L-88 cars come with the hood as seen on this car for example,

With all the many aftermarket parts out there how would a person prove their hood is a real deal GM L-88
If proven how much would said L-88 hood be worth?

Many thanks!
Cheers,
P.

It's amazing to me that GM dropped an L-88 into ragtop. The engine was designed for racing and little else, yet many tracks in the day had rules against rags. GM didn't put the 302 Z-28 engine in a ragtop other than the one special order 68 for a GM executive. Poncho verts didn't get HO's or at least not when HO's had HP. Most COPOs with HP engines were coupes,..so curious as to why a few L-88s found their way into Vettes.

I believe the hardtop equipped verts were superior aerodynamically to the coupes on the racetrack. You really don't see too many coupe vintage race cars.

Actually, quite a few were verts. The removable hardtop was considered to be more aerodynamic than the coupe.

All of the AIR L-88s were verts.
