I wanted to try to get things straight in my mind how it really is,
I want to run what I have been calling an 80-82 style interior in my custom project,
Then I am thinking that interior started in 78, but then it appears the seats were not standard in 78, they were in the pace car but what other models if any had the 80's style seats in 78 and were the 80 style seats standard in 79?
Seems I have seen 78-79 cars with the style seats common in the earlier cars,
Then on the center gauge console, was the clock more common than oil temp which cars starting at what year could have the oil temp gauge?
What about steering columns, 80-82 have front corning lamps that are part of steering column wiring, so would the steering columns be unique for 80-82?
Door panels: 70-77 are the same except for trim; 78-82 are the same basic panel. Seats: 73-78 are basically the same; 79-82 (std seats) are basically the same; 77 did have a cloth/leather optional seat cover configuration; 77 gauge cluster panel is 1-year only; there were two 78-82 cluster panles, one with mech. clock and one with clock in the radio (which allow the oil temp gauge instead of the mech clock); cruise controls were optional from 77-82: 77-80 were the same, 81-82 were the same. Don't know about the steering column.
By the way....all this info is available from any aftermarket supplier parts book. You should get one.
Yup, seats 79-82 were the same. 78 Pace cars were the only ones in 78 to get those stlye seats. Interior was bascially the same on 78-82 except for the seats. There were minor changes each year. For instance, 79 was the last year of the 140 mph speedo. The electric door lock button moved in 79. The oil temp gauge first appeared in I think 81 (others I'm sure will correct me if I'm wrong) in place if the clock if a digital radio was ordered.
