Default Late Production 70...any differences

I seem to recall reading at some point that there were a few differences between the late Production 70's...basically some 71 styling features.

Possibly the grills, etc.

Any help?

Grills possibly may have changed late to using 3 screws instead of just one. I know some of the later L-46's had a closed dual snorkel air cleaner. The ignition shielding box design also changed. There may be other subtle changes I'm unaware of and others I'm sure will chime in.

The 70-72 NCRS Judging Manual says 70s after #13656 got the '71 grilles with two mounting screws in the lower rail. No screws prior to that.

Thanks for setting me straight on that.

Hi ET,
A couple more 'late' changes....
A slight difference in the construction (the weld) in the exhaust tips.
A change in the LT-! hood stripe from unequal width lines to equal width lines.
Regards,
Alan

Side eggcrate grilles have raised chrome trim where early 70's have flat edges. I know of a 70 that seems to have one early front grille (no lower mounting screws) and a later driver's side grille. The car in question is a 14XXX series car and was close to end of 70 production run.

I have a late (15123) and it has the later grill on the driver's side also - I always thought it had been damaged and replaced with a service replacement grill.
