Default I plan to put a SPAL fan in the window! (no a/c)

My engine runs cool, but i get hot at traffic lights.
found a 12" 870 cfm 7.5 amp spal for $35.
Will it give a decent breeze? it will go in the passenger window. With a manual switch. is this illegal?(block vision?) then i could set it on the seat.

If it's an early "flat rear window" C3 you could try something like this:

This is the way we do it in SC.

How about a C4 vent motor instead of the C3?

If it is already an a/c car, it would be easy putting it back in operating order.. and while you are at it retrofit it to R134a..

Is this an upgrade for AC or for a Non AC car? Curious, since mine doesn't have AC either.

the girls said i should get a job. that was 20 yrs ago. if i wanted a job, DUH, i'd have one. THEN, i'd have to commute, DUH, i'd need a/c. So, no job, no ac needed either. Highs here are in the 80's. Why do i need ac? DUH if i needed it, i'd have it. i took it out 10 yrs ago. But, I LIKE A BREEZE VERY MUCH, but i don't get it when stopped. i want a breeze, not ac.

We just returned from a club trip to Napa Wine Country today, it was 104 degrees in downtown Santa Rosa. We were in our 70 LT-1 roadster, I think I need to start looking for a C-60 equipped 72 LT-1 or do like the guy on the Internet link, go to Home Depot, buy a generator and window mount A/C unit-PRESTO instant A/C!

O.K. , the solution is simple, remove the t-tops and you'll be in business.

So, explain to the club, how sitting still at a light gives a breeze w/ t-top off
.
back in'78 in NJ i had a 76 w ac & t-tops. that is when i learned how hot the sun is. i quickly put back on the Left top, but kept the right side off for a nice breeze at 30+mph.
Sold 76 in 82.
.
moved to FLa in 89. got my 72 vert w/ac. the sun is MUCH HOTTER here. i quickly learned to keep the top up in summer, and to tie open the vert window. gives a nice breeze when moving 30+mph. i told cf guys about this over the years, but they need a pic and detailed instructions, i dont have pics, so they gave up & got ac.
in 2 weeks cold fronts will make things the surf is 84 maybe a record, Very high making it 82 at 7 am, next year i'll have a fan for these rare hot mornings.
.
In the winter, highs in the 60's, the top goes down; the suns' warming rays do wonders for top down cruising.
.
thanks for the comments, that redneck air was

Well, I know how you feel, and even if you use the stock air ventilation system that came from factory in our cars you'll find out that it's nothing but some sort of a heat exchanging system that would transfer the engine heat back to the cabin! .. of course unless you did a serious heat shielding on the entire firewall surfaces both in and out. So for me (since I live in a hot climate as well) I need A/C in my car, a few times I drive with tops removed and I switch A/C only when stopping at a traffic crossings.

that's what got me thinking. i saw a 6" for $15. but a SPAL 12" for $35 is still only pocket change. I rode yesterday until 11am and never needed a fan, so it is really a luxury item. I did close the drivers window when the sun was low so i wouldn't get a sunburn.
Another bonus to no ac is NO BLIND SPOT, top up, window bow up/ open. i used to get claustrophobic when i had ac. confined space, poor visability, not my thing.
I checked w/spal, the fan is a mc/atv/oil cooler fan, list 89.95 2.42lb. i plan to get 3, one for 72, 2 for 61(1 to replace flex fan) i think 2 could replace the flex fan on my 72, but i have no interest in doing that much work.
let me know if any of u vert owners are clever enough to tie up the rear window. there has to be somebody with a rope, and knows how to use it

he goes into the house it is 98F. it is 80 outside. he says to the family: "why don't u open the windows?"
the dad says, perplexed "do u think that would help?"
ac guy "YES OPEN THE WINDOWS!"
so YES the world is full of bubbas that can't even open a window.
TIP:
c3 verts have a latch under the rear deck to un-latch the rear window. don't be a bubba, get a breeze just put something under it so it is open an inch or 2 your 1st try. go for a drive, see what i mean?
don't go more than 6-8" as it will imo look odd.
