Mr. Free... since you started this.. it's up to *you* to send a friend request to all who respond to this thread - in order to build the group. I'm also curious how many '68 owners are active here. And yes, they are a challenge at times... but a great car.

The 68 is only a challenge for people that have no ambition and want the parts to fall right in their lap. I had no problem finding parts for both of my 68's and the payoff is the great part when it is finished, to own the most unique and cleanest of the early C3's and you only go through the restoration process once. Look at the one year only 63 split window, that uniqueness has really set it apart and made it's value soar over the years. Yes I am one of the loyal 68 owners.

Default I'm in

Never understood what was so hard about restoring a 68. I've got 2 and never had a problem finding parts other than the smooth instrument bezel. Paragon has em but I keep holding out till I find a bargain at the Corvette Expo.

Default It's the expense.

I have been able to find everything it's the prices that make it difficult. I need a switch for the air conditioner could'nt find one under $250. 68 frame extension's are very hard to find and the prices are ridiculous. The long bumper bracket is sold by paragon but it has the bolt pattern of a 69-72.

Anything worth having is expensive, and you only have to build your 68 once. I'm enjoying mine now and it don't cost me anything. If you don't have any money, then you shouldn't buy any Corvette because they are all expensive when you have to buy a part.

Default A fool and his money are soon parted

Its is not that I do not have any money it is that I like to keep as much of my money as possible. For example I needed the small switch for the A/C that is located next to the climate control wheel on an A/C car. It is not reproduced and the salvage guys know this. They want $250 for this switch that is just as old as the one I need to replace becasue it is so brittle that it has fallen apart. Why would I want to pay $250 for something I know will probably fail.

The idea of 68 owners joining together is that hopefully someone will have faced the same challenges as another member and possibly they have located a source for reasonably priced parts or a source for a suitable alternative. In turn saving a corvette brother both time and money. Power to the people.

I'm in too! I love my '68, it's a blast to drive. Here are a few pics; the best view is the first picture, from the drivers seat on the Iowa Speedway. This pic was taken at a slow point for obvious reasons! The road rally was a great, day spent with my wife and "our" toy. For some reason, she refuses to drive it... Anybody within a quick days drive to Des Moines should do this next year.

Default 68 owners united

I did not realize that there is a spot on the forum where you can create groups. I just created a group called "68 OWNERS UNITED". I sent everyone that has posted an invitation. If I missed someone let me know or search for the group and join.
