Well, put the front clip on yesterday, ran into a few glitches, nothing big. I had to clearance the Ford Focus fan shroud from the VBP control arm bushings and I had to cut my nice boxed in drivers side frame horn because the lower rad outlet was hitting it, Since I'm using a 73 firewall back body the drivers side plenum extension was too big. I'm looking on here for an NOS one before I order a hand laid one. Otherwise it went well. I have to raise the front of the doors a little and the front clip slightly and surpisingly the aftermarket L88 hood fit great. Here's some pics. Another thing, I have a performer RPM on top and even with the L88 hood it still almost hits the carb, the motor doesn't look like it's sitting high. I'l have to modify my alternator bracket also because it's hitting the iside edge of the hood, all minor things considering when you start with just a bare frame. I'll have to thank Dannyman, a local forum member that came by again to help out. Payback going to be a bitch on this one, he's not as far along as I am...lol...no problem, thats why this forum is great. Thanks Danny

Nice... Looking like some good progress. Are you making sure you got the right distance from the hinge bolts to the drip line? Maybe it doesn't make as much difference with a long hood / no wiper door. I had a lot fitting to get it right.

Keep it up!

Thanks guys, I'm going to mount the wiper door and grille before a set anything permanently. Of course I couldn't find the tiny shoulder bolts I have to mount the door since it's only been three years in the making. I'm made up brass bushings for the wiper door instead of the plastic bushings along with the shoulder bolts to get a real nice smooth solid movement to the door.I still have to buy the correct LH plenum piece so the drivers side gets set properly.

Hinge bolt and drip line?!?!? Not sure I know what you mean. Are you talking about the raised line on the door and fender?

If you read the Ecklers book on fiberglass repairs there is a spec (43") for the distance from the center line of the rear hood hinge bolt to the drip edge. That is the strip of fiberglass that separates the windshield wiper area from the engine bay at least that is the best way I can describe it. I can email the instructions if you want them. They are big files so may take several. Now that I think about it if your inner fenders are already bonded to the surround the spec is already there as long as the drip edge lines up.

Yup, inner fenders are still bonded. It looks like the back lip is sitting near perfect on the top of the firewall. All final lining up will take place next week after I do the wifes transmission in her vehicle. I have to also pick up the left firewall plenum piece. As mentioned it's a 73 firewall back body and the 72 clip will not fit the drivers side firewall. C.Central says the plenum part matches from 68-73. I have physical proof that that is incorrect.
